In 1954, the bailiff, Edward Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his partner Chuck Owl sent to investigate the escape of one patient from Eshkliffskoy hospital for the criminally insane, located on the island Shutter. The hospital is closely guarded on the island of its rigid rules, the violation of which may suffer harmful effects. All patients are in three buildings, one for men, one for women and the third – for dangerous and violent patients.
The main character begins to investigate and stumbles upon many interesting facts that suggest that the authorities and hospital staff were hiding something terrible. He finds evidence that the clinic is sponsored by intelligence agencies, and it says nothing about a completely different specialty institutions, on the horrific experiments …
On top of all the problems, the officer begins to see visions and dreams of its terrible past – ruined his beloved wife and a German death camp at Dachau, in whose release in 1945 he took part. Unfold all the new circumstances, which increasingly suggests that he is not in the capacity in which he finds himself, and all the new hallucinations confirm this.
With its stunning dark atmosphere and the endless mysteries of the truth which subsequently shakes, allow viewers to fully enjoy this thriller and will not allow to distract the final krtiny.
